OM (AUDITORIUM)

MADAGASCAR ROSEWOOD & EUROPEAN SPRUCE

Madagascar rosewood (Dalbergia Spp.) is a wood I wanted to use, for a very long time. For this OM and its 3-piece back, the central piece  is Honduran rosewood (Dalbergia Stevensonii), I wanted to stay very abstinent. It is a similar approach we could find, in the world of the classical guitar from the Iberian tradition.

I have been able to admire some of these antique instruments in the Orféo magazine over the years. I am a great admirer of this lutherie and I wanted to go in this direction, to let the beauty of this wood speak for itself.

CLARO WALNUT & SITKA SPRUCE

With this OM, I wanted to bring local woods into my range of instruments for the first time. What better choice than claro walnut (Juglans Hindsii / J. Californica)? This one is beautifully figured, and comes from Oregon. The mastergrade Sitka spruce top (Picea Sitchensis) that I chose comes from Haida Gwai in British Columbia (Canada), and does not have any runout.

Like the OO-12 in African mahogany, this guitar is very close to my base price, due to the choice of woods I made.

CHECHEN & SITKA SPRUCE

Chechen (Metopium Brownei) is a species which come from Mexico. It is used in the construction of percussion-instruments. It is a so-called "alternative" wood and it does not suffer from any legislation concerning its sale, or its export/import.

This guitar is interesting because she represent a part of my desire to explore these alternative species, with some woods I am used to work with. This is the case with the Sitka spruce top (Picea Sitchensis) from Haida Gwai, I chose for this instrument.
